Service Information
The Equipment & Tool Institute (ETI) is a respected trade association in the automotive aftermarket industry.  The institute is an association of automotive tool and equipment manufacturers, technical information providers and training organizations.  As a leader in this area, ETI provides information on OBD technology to its members and general public.

OBD I/M Flowchart - prepared by Mike McCarthy of the California Air Resources Board and Bernie Carr of Vetronix to provide  interim guidance to the state regulators, system integrators and equipment manufacturers implementing OBD I/M testing.

Vehicle Manufacturer Service Information Matrix

National Automotive Service Task Force (NASTF) Equipment Matrices - informs technicians and shop owners of the vehicle's and vehicle system capabilities for which aftermarket scan tool functionality is being supported by each respective original equipment manufacturer (OEM) and where information deficiencies are occurring.

Training

 
ENHANCING OBD I/M PROGRAM ENFORCEMENT USING OBD DATA
    
 The National Center for Automotive Science and Technology offers an OBD I/M Program Enforcement Training Course. This course is a 24-hour workshop detailing OBD I/M program retrievable on-vehicle data useful in determining fraudulent OBD I/M testing.  Scan tool service modes $01-$0A are discussed with newly regulated, OBD I/M applicable, additional data that is identified, defined and explained from an OBD I/M program enforcement standpoint.  On-vehicle scan tool exercises are used to reinforce classroom discussion.  Training session schedules are typically based on demand.  Course fee is $500.  For more information please contact the Center at 801.626.7803 or via e-mail cgee@weber.edu.
